David Duffy, CPA
Managing Member

David, the firm’s Managing Member, is our team leader. His career path includes experiences as an auditor for Arthur Andersen & Co., as a controller for a small corporation, in executive management for a large real estate development company, and over 31 years at the helm of our firm. He has extensive knowledge of Sage 50 and Quickbooks accounting applications, and heads our business start-up services, as well as our accounting services. His role in the firm also includes overseeing our tax practice. He embraces innovative technology.

David served for fifteen years on active and reserve duty in the United States Marine Corps. His leadership positions included Administrative Chief, Drill Instructor, and Headquarters Company Executive Officer. He was selected as the nation’s Marine Reserve officer of the year. David is an avid outdoorsman and Tough Mudder runner.

Theresa Gauthier
Firm Administrator/Accounting Assistant

More often than not, Theresa is the first smile that greets you when you enter our office, and the friendly “Hello” when you call. She joined the firm in 2010 as our Firm’s Administrator. She is responsible for many management tasks that keep our business organized and running smoothly. She is a key person in the electronic filing process, and is always helpful with routine client questions and needs that are communicated to us. All of the other professionals at the firm have come to rely on her skills, her understanding of our profession, and her knowledge of the technology processes within our infrastructure.

Currently completing a business degree from Walsh College, Theresa also handles some of the accounting work for the growing firm, assisting with compiling underlying information, data mining, and reporting.

Elaine Joynt
Accounting Manager

Elaine, an Accounting Manager, is celebrating nearly 20 years with the firm. She assists David with the tax and accounting services.

At the early age of 23, and as the eldest of four, Elaine found herself having to suddenly take over her family’s two businesses, a fine-dining restaurant and a nightclub. Through her boldness, farsightedness, and ingenuity, she was able to successfully compete in a male-dominated nightclub industry in Genesee County. She quickly garnered and kept the #1 spot with distributors and radio stations. She gained immense experience and insights into the restaurant and night club industries.

Elaine took a brief hiatus from work to begin a family, spending a few years raising her three children. During that time, her family sold the businesses. When she was ready to rejoin the workforce in 2000, we were ready to have her become part of the team.

Chris Hall
IT Manager

Chris joined our team in 2005 upon his graduation from the University of Michigan with a degree in computer science. He is a Certified IT Professional, and heads up our IT services, keeping us abreast of the leading technologies. Chris is also a co-owner and Chief Operating Officer for Unique Business Services, a company that provides IT-related services and solutions for our clients. His philosophy underscores how we view our commitments to clients – that efficient, effective, ‘client-centric’ solutions provide the best opportunity for success. His experience includes accounting software, system design, data protection, and simply getting hardware and software to run better together. He is a Certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor and a Sage 50 Certified Consultant.

Chris is a devoted family-man, a community volunteer, a runner, and a sports enthusiast.

Ofelia Gonzalez-Soto
Accounting Assistant

In early 2009, we were introduced to Ofelia through a client who knew that we were needing a part-time Accounting Assistant. She was the perfect person for the position…and has been since then! She came to us while she was completing her Associate’s Degree from Oakland Community College. She was tutoring other classmates in accounting, and had been extensively using Peachtree Accounting Software, the predecessor to Sage 50. As an Accounting Assistant, Ofelia engages in data entry, reconciliations, periodic reports, and payroll services. She also assists clients with so many other needs, such as insurance reports and audits, and sales, use, and withholding tax registrations and reports. Born and raised in Mexico City, she met her husband while working in Austria. She speaks fluent Spanish, German, and English. When not working, she spends her time caring for her two children.
